Luis is a partner at Samaipata where he invests in early stage tech companies with network effects.
He studied engineering at MIT, has an MBA from Wharton University, and has over 10 years of experience as a business angel with a portfolio of 38 investments in startups. Among them are some great success stories such as Gram Games, or Grub Market.
Luis began his career in investment banking at Citibank and later joined the team at Serendipity Investments led by José Marin, a renowned business angel and co-founder of FJ Labs, the most active investment fund worldwide with over 900 active investments.
Before joining Samaipata, Luis Garay worked as Chief Financial Officer in various startups from his portfolio, including the American Novoloop, which has raised 21 million dollars in Series A and is backed by renowned investors such as Mark Benioff, founder of Salesforce, or the brothers Larry and Carl Page, founders of Google and eGroups respectively.
