Speaker Bio
Xavier Domingo is a technology leader with more than 20 years of professional experience at the intersection of applied research, industry innovation, and academic excellence. He currently serves as the Director of the Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) Unit at Eurecat, Technology Centre of Catalonia, where he leads a team of 50 data scientists and engineers. In this role, he spearheads the development of cutting-edge AI-driven solutions for sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, aerospace, energy, agrifood, climate change and water management, enabling these sectors to accelerate their AI and digital transformation.
His expertise lies in the design and application of Artificial Intelligence techniques integrated with hybrid IoT architectures and data analytics frameworks for both small and big data environments. He has successfully led the technical coordination and execution of numerous European research initiatives (Horizon Europe, H2020, FP7) as well as national and regional projects. His applied research spans predictive maintenance, decision support systems, optimal control, multicriteria optimization, digital twins, simulation, what-if scenario analysis, semantic architectures, intelligent monitoring platforms, and agentic AI solutions.
In the academic sphere, Xavier is an associate professor at the University of Lleida (UdL) where he teaches subjects in computer engineering, such as programming, data structures, and software engineering. He previously held teaching roles at CIHEAM Zaragoza in international master’s programs on water governance and agrifood data science, and collaborator at Esade Business School, lecturing on data architectures and AI applications in executive programs
He holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Artificial Intelligence from UdL, a degree in Computer Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and is pursuing an Executive MBA at Esade, reinforcing his leadership capabilities in strategic innovation and digital business.
