Dr. Ángeles Vázquez-Castro is Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC). She is a leading expert in space communications and quantum cryptography, with extensive experience in the design of secure space systems. Her research spans quantum security protocol design and novel cryptographic metrics rooted in quantum information theory, with particular emphasis on space-based and cislunar applications. Her work bridges fundamental theory and practical engineering, and several of her contributions have been incorporated into international standards. Dr. Vázquez-Castro has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, holds two patents, and is a founding member of the ESA-funded European Network of Experts in Satellite Communications. She is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and of the IEEE Information Theory Society.
