Martin Dietz began his career in 1992 as research engineer at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS), where he contributed to the research and development of leading audio compression algorithms such as mp3 and AAC. In 2000 he left IIS to run startup Coding Technologies, which successfully developed and marketed High-Efficiency AAC (HE-AAC). After Dolby’s acquisition of Coding Technologies in 2007, he stayed with Dolby for three years. Since 2011 he acts as a consultant for technology companies and Fraunhofer IIS, for which he contributed to the creation of 3GPP’s latest conversational codec named EVS (Enhanced Voice Services).
