Session Description
How can we mobilize more capital towards investments in social and environmental innovations? How can we differentiate ‘impact washing’ from genuinely meaningful projects? And how, ultimately, can we all become impact investors? We debate these and many other questions to help grow an ecosystem of profitable businesses, making a positive impact.
Join this session with top-notch investors that will discuss and enlighten us about how we should measure the return on our investments to foster the development of sustainable businesses with positive impact.
15:00-15:30: Discovering investment opportunities in emerging markets: impact start-ups driving transformation.
Emerging markets show a great opportunity for investment, the digitization process is increasingly growing and start-ups in those markets have the potential to reach enormous markets. Many start-ups are running businesses that help to improve needs in the lives of consumers such as access to credit, healthcare, education, and nutrition
Additionally, by investing in emerging markets, investors can combine impact with fantastic returns. In this session, we will lead a conversation between a unicorn founder and an impact investor in emerging countries.

15:30-16:00 Transforming food systems for the better through impact investing.
Current food systems exceed planetary limits, deplete soils, contribute to accelerating climate change, loss of biodiversity, and favor inequality throughout value chains. In that context, many start-ups are addressing those problems through scalable business models.
Impact investors are investing in those models contributing to drive a change towards a more sustainable food system.
In this session, investors are going to share their experiences, including opportunities and challenges they have found in their investment practice.
