Thing Thing (USA) offers a fast way to access digital things while chatting and emailing. This platform allows the user to attach documents, photos, calendar activities and more, meaning there is no need to switch apps! Read interview.

Internet of Things category

Slock It (Germany) offers an infrastructure that allows a person to rent, sell or share anything, without the middleman!

 

2015

Dinube (Spain) operates a private payment network, whereby users can easily manage expenses and payments from their smartphone, ultimately reducing the need for a bank or credit card in the future.

PhotoMath (USA) reads and solves mathematical problems by using the camera in a mobile device. It makes math easy and simple and educates users on how to solve mathematical problems.

Hanhaa (United Kingdom) empowers users to take charge of their own IoT solutions and provides a device which allows anybody to use it, with or without technical knowledge.

Women4Tech’s Hack_D_ Gap Global Challenge

The Hack_D_Gap global challenge, launched in collaboration between GSMA’s Women4Tech programme and 4YFN, called for startups to come forward and present their digital solutions aiming to reduce the gender gap and promote gender diversity in the tech industry.

2016

WesmartPark (Spain) is like an AirBnB for drivers wishing to park their cars in the city. They connect private parking spaces with drivers so that residents or owners of the parking space can get extra revenue by sharing their space while drivers can park faster and cheaper.

2015

Mapillary (Sweden) offers a fast, lightweight street view solution for cities. GIS integration, automatic traffic sign detection, and an easy way to add photos using smartphones. They went onto secure an $8m investment round. Read interview.
