An Impact acceleration programme winner reveals why startups should apply!

We recently held a free session to inform local entrepreneurs on the benefits of applying to Impact Growth’s acceleration programme call, that is currently open and running until 9 May. Apart from explaining the programme to the group, we had a representative from FIWARE give a speech about their technology that is incorporated into the programme and we also had a previous winner talk about their experiences with the accelerator.

Following the session, we contacted Butano24 who offers an IoT solution that measures and informs the user and distributor on their level of gas, avoiding a situation whereby the user runs out.

We asked if they could recap on their speech so that we could put it into words and give those who couldn’t make the session, an insight into the positive aspects of submitting their application. Here is what they had to say….

“There were a number of factors as to why we were attracted to the Impact acceleration programme, mainly due to the combination of equity free funding and the training and mentoring proposal which seemed to be very successful in boosting an entrepreneurial project in its initial stages, such as ours.

Overall, the process was very demanding and the objectives set were very ambitious, however Impact and its mentors were always helping us to reach each milestone one step at a time.

Our designated mentor was Alejandro Santana, an Investment Fund Manager, who helped us enormously in highlighting the value of our project and to redefine our strategic objectives in the short, medium and long term.

‘Having the opportunity to get to know and share experiences with other startups was very enriching’

Having the opportunity to get to know and share experiences with other startups was very enriching due to the diversity and quality of the winning projects selected during our call.

Using the FIWARE technology that is incorporated into the programme is much easier to understand and consolidate into each project than what it may seem at first, plus Impact are always helpful in facilitating integration into your project.

We exhibited at this years’ Mobile World Congress as part of the Telefonica delegation. We were thrilled to find out that the media mentioned us as one of the 6 most interesting IoT devices at Mobile World Congress 2017!

At the moment we are exploring and expanding into other sectors. For this reason, we have created a new trade mark called B24 IoT for the sectors that specialise in medical gases, industrial gases, beer barrels and gas and diesel deposits.

Our goal is to have 100,000 IoT devices deployed during 2018 and increase to 500,000 devices installed within the next 3 years.

Our experience with the Impact acceleration programme has been extremely positive, and in fact we are in the process of applying to the new call.

‘…….whether or not you win the placement, you will still have a positive result by the end.’

Impact offers a great opportunity to take your project to the next level and although the competition is tough due to the quality of the startups, the single fact of applying will force you to reflect on aspects of your project that the normal working day doesn’t normally give you enough time to do. So, whether or not you win the placement, you will still have a positive result by the end.”

About Butano24

Butano24, a trademark of Serviglp SL, came up with the idea of modernising the bottled gas distribution service due to the fact that despite having been successful during the second part of the 20th Century, it was beginning to lose customers in favour of natural gas.

Through the website or app, a delivery can be requested and sent to a dealer who is closest to the user’s home, offering a 24-hour turnaround service.

Butano24 also has an IoT device that measures the remaining gas level and sends the information to the user and to the distributor to ensure that the user does not run out of gas.

Butano24 is now becoming an IoT device development company using the B24 IoT brand.
The Impact Growth acceleration programme is open until 9 May and they are looking for startups that offer solutions in the following sectors:

  • Smart Cities
  • Smart Manufacturing
  • Smart Content
  • Smart AgriFood
