After 3 days of intense pitches, competitions and battles, we can finally announce the winners of the Challenges that took place during 4YFN!
Global Mobile Innovators Tournament
4YFN also hosted the final of the Global Mobile Innovators Tournament, the global competition organised in collaboration with IBM to bolster the creation and development of innovative solutions related to the Internet of Things. Over the course of the 3 days at 4YFN, the Finale Sessions took place, hosted by Professor Andy Stanford-Clark, IBM Distinguished Engineer. Special guests attended the sessions to see the Finalists pitch and the 3 winners be announced.
Congratulations to the Global Mobile Innovators Tournament winners:
- Smarter Healthcare: Grindbit, a headband that helps to monitor the user’s nocturnal movements of jaw and teeth pressure.
- Smart Homes and Buildings: InnerSpace, an indoor mapping and location device used in retail.
- Connected Travel and Transportation: Brainstat Studio, , a solution that monitors drivers engaged in all types of transport services .
The winner of each theme will get to meet with investors, receive media exposure and have the potential to generate revenue from the commercialisation of their winning application.
4YFN Awards 2016
3 Themes, 3 Competitions, 3 Days, 3 Winners! After almost 600 entries from contestants spanning over 200 cities in 60 countries worldwide, this years´ 25 finalists showcased their ideas from a booth and took it in turns to take center stage and compete for the winning title! Hosted by the co-founder of F6S and Tech.eu, Jon Bradford, the 2016 Awards were split into the following themes: Disrupted by Mobile (Monday), Internet of Things (Tuesday) and Digital Media (Wednesday). Each theme involved the finalists pitching, followed by a panel of judges announcing the winner.

Disrupted by Mobile
Thing Thing, a fast way to access digital things while chatting and emailing. This platform allows the user to attach documents, photos, calendar activities and more, meaning there is no need to switch apps!
Internet of Things
Slock It, an infrastructure that allows a person to rent, sell or share anything, without the middle man!
Pixoneye, develops image understanding technologies for the Marketing and Advertising world.
Global Mobile Challenge (EU Mobile Challenge)
The EU Mobile Challenge is part of a global strategy that brings together entrepreneurship and mobile innovation amongst young professionals around the world.
The competition was divided into mobile challenge regions: Europe, US & Latin America, Eurasia, Asia Pacific, Arab and Africa. Each region ran their own local competitions and the winners from each region battled it out at the 4YFN event with the semi-finals taking place on 23 February and the grand finale on 24 February.
Congratulations to the Global Mobile Challenge winners:
1st – Whatson Planner, is a search engine for time that finds the best options to meet without sharing an agenda. Whatson Planner directly tells a time that works for everyone.
2nd – Raye7, is a mobile app that lets users share rides with people in their social circle (e.g. work, university) to help save money, time and to expand certain networks.
3rd – Art Asian
We would like to thank everyone involved, especially those who took part in the competitions! Innovation was running wild during the event, with all the talent and expertise housed under one roof, we have seen some fantastic and very promising projects arise during those 3 days!
