I'm Ursula O'Kuinghttons, the CMO at Scytale Digital, also working with Amplica Labs and Project Liberty. I started my career over 20 years ago in journalism, working at places like Reuters News Agency, El País, and Prisa Media Group. Then, I took on a role as the Director of Communication at Casa Sefarad, which is part of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
My interest in blockchain began in New York at Civil Media Company, a startup within ConsenSys. There, as a founding member, I built partnerships and supported over a hundred independent newsrooms worldwide. This experience ignited my passion for the positive use of blockchain. I continued this path at IOV Labs, where I worked on making financial services more accessible with the RSK Bitcoin blockchain in Europe and Latin America.
Next, I joined the Web3 Foundation, founded by Gavin Wood, the co-founder of Ethereum and creator of Polkadot. My time there reinforced my belief in the power of blockchain to change the world. I also co-founded Cogency, a media consortium with some of the most renowned media organizations globally.
Now, at Scytale VC, I continue my journey, supporting key companies in the web3 space, invested in leading names from Mythical Games to Astar Blockchain, a front-runner in Japan.
At Project Liberty, I'm focused on creating a better internet that gives users more control and free access to information. My diverse experience in journalism, business, communications, and blockchain has taught me the importance of using technology to make a positive impact, especially in how we connect and share online.
