Lan Guan is the Chief AI Officer in Accenture. In this role, she advises cross-industry C-suite clients to develop and implement data and AI strategies and products with strategic goals of helping them grow in the new era of Generative AI. She also leads Accenture’s Center for Advanced AI, the AI epicenter that enables enterprises to capture and create value from their AI investment by leveraging deep AI experts, differentiated scalable assets and solutions underpinned by data prowess and industry knowledge, and market-leading thought leadership and research. During her 20-year tenure in Accenture’s consulting business, Lan brings deep expertise in transforming data into actionable insights and plans to maximize market opportunities for clients. She specializes in data strategy, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud architecture, and robotics. Lan is a member of Accenture’s Global Management Committee.
Prior to this role, Lan was the global leader for Data & AI in Accenture’s Technology organization. During that time, she focused on transforming data propelled by the cloud adoption into actionable plans and scalable solutions to maximize market opportunities for clients.
Lan is a founding member of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), an institute dedicated to advancing AI research, education, policy and practice to improve the human condition, where she established the Accenture Stanford Foundation Model Scholar Program. She was listed as one of the Top 25 Consultants and Leaders in AI by The Consulting Report and received the Top 50 Asian American in Business Award in 2023. Lan was the recipient of the Top Women Leaders in Consulting in 2022. Prior to that, she won a STEM Champion for Women award in 2020. One of Lan’s innovations, the B2B Growth Solution powered by AI won the American Business Stevie Gold Award in 2022.
Lan serves on the advisory board of the AI4All, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion in AI education, research, development, and policy.
Lan holds an MBA degree in Computational Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a PhD (ABD) in Quantitative Econometrics from Wayne State University. Lan has been awarded over twenty patents in AI-related areas including content recommendations, digital marketing and sales optimization. She is an Adjunct Faculty with Data Science Institute at Columbia University.
